SUMMARY:How to Build Inner Resilience for the Climate\, Nature & Social Crises of our Times
DESCRIPTION:What tools do we need to not only survive but thrive at this time? How do you find your best responses and get unstuck from freeze\, overwhelm or panic? \nThis one-day taster session will introduce the practices of Joanna Macy’s ‘Work That Reconnects’ that have supported activists from burnout for over 50 years and is now growing as a mainstream practice to support anyone concerned by the climate and nature crisis. \n  \nWhy do we need to speak the unspeakable?\n  \nThe climate and nature crisis we are currently in is considered too uncomfortable to talk about. It remains an unspoken presence in the back of our minds. We often hear comments such as don’t go there\, it’s too depressing and don’t dwell on the negative. The problem with this approach is that it closes down our conversations\, our thinking\, and drives our emotional responses underground to leak out when we least expect – and the greatest danger of all is the deadening of our response. \nIn a process known as adversity activated development\, our very act of facing the mess we’re in can help us discover and more enliven our sense of what our lives are about\, what we’re here to do and what we are truly capable of. It will also help you access unexpected resilience and creative power. \nThrough sharing practices and tools to help embrace uncertainty and build inner resilience\, you will start to find your unique gifts to bring forward at this time. \nThis will be a safe and nurturing space and we warmly invite you to participate. There will be no pressure on you to participate\, only do what you feel comfortable with. \n  \nThis event is free and generously provided by the University of Winchester Chaplaincy.  Places are limited so please register to join via Eventbrite. \n\n  \n  \n  \nFacilitated by Cindy Gale & Priyal Shah \nCindy is a psychotherapist and passionate about fostering our capacity to connect with ourselves\, each other and nature. She trained in this work with Joanna Macy in 2009 to become a facilitator of her work. She also provides therapeutic support to people dealing with the climate and nature crisis via the Climate Psychology Alliance. She’s a trustee of Heal Rewilding. \nPriyal was born into Jain family and community in the UK\, since an early age he has studied various Vedic and Eastern teachings such as Buddhism\, Hinduism\, Tantra and Taoism.\nHe trained as a Holistic Bodyworker\, Hatha (Sivananda)\, Tantric and Kundalini Yoga teacher and\, Taoist Qi Gong for Health Practitioner under the tutelage of Mantak Chia and his Universal Healing Tao System. He is facilitator of the Work That Reconnects and passionate about encouraging more people of colour to join him in this work. \n
