SUMMARY:Boundaries for Highly Sensitive People: One Day Retreat Near Marlow
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor HSPs who struggle with boundaries: a small group day retreat with somatic practice\, reflection\, woodland\, and home cooked lunch. \n\n\n\n\nDo you find it hard to say no\, ask for space\, or realise only afterwards that something did not feel right? \nMany highly sensitive people are quick to notice other people’s needs and slow to honour their own. Over time\, that can leave us drained\, resentful\, overwhelmed\, or far away from ourselves. \nThis small group day retreat offers a gentler\, more embodied way into boundaries. \nRather than focusing only on techniques or scripts\, we will slow down and pay attention to how boundaries are actually felt in the body. Together we will explore the physical signals of a true yes\, a hesitant maybe\, and a clear no\, and notice what happens in us when a boundary is honoured or crossed. \nThrough a blend of teaching\, somatic exercises\, guided reflection\, experiential practice\, and time in nature\, this day is designed to help you recognise your limits earlier\, trust your body’s signals more deeply\, and begin holding boundaries with greater clarity and self respect. \nLimited to just 8 participants \nThis is an intimate day retreat\, held in a peaceful garden cabin in the Chilterns\, with space for depth\, reflection\, and real connection. \nDuring the day we will explore \nTeaching on boundaries and the HSP trait\nWhy boundaries can be particularly hard for highly sensitive people\, and how sensitivity\, empathy\, depth of processing\, and conflict sensitivity can all play a part. \nSomatic exercises and body awareness\nGentle practices to help you notice how a yes\, no\, or maybe feels in your body\, and how to recognise the difference between safety\, openness\, constriction\, overwhelm\, and self abandonment. \nExperiential exercises in pairs and small groups\nOpportunities to explore boundaries in a way that is practical\, compassionate\, and supported\, with plenty of choice about how much you participate. Weather permitting\, we will spend some time on these practices in the surrounding woodland. \nGuided reflection and journalling\nTime to deepen your understanding of your own patterns\, including where boundaries tend to become difficult and what support you need in order to hold them. \nGrounding and restoration\nSimple practices to settle the nervous system and help you stay connected to yourself throughout the day. \nHome cooked nourishment\nDrinks\, snacks\, and Priyal’s home cooked vegetarian lunch\, prepared with care. \nConnection with other HSPs\nA small\, thoughtful group where you can explore this tender territory in the company of people who understand. \nThis day is not about becoming hard or defended. It is about learning how to stay connected to yourself\, so that your sensitivity can be better protected and supported. \nYou will leave with a clearer understanding of your own boundary patterns\, greater trust in your body’s signals\, and practical ways to begin saying yes\, no\, and not now with more clarity and confidence. \nWho this retreat is for\nThis retreat is for highly sensitive people who want to understand their boundaries more deeply and begin relating to them in a kinder\, more embodied way. You do not need to be good at boundaries already. In fact\, this day is especially for those who find them difficult.\nNot sure if youre an HSP? Take the self test here. \nAbout the hosts\nThe day will be led by Cindy Gale\, an experienced psychotherapist who has worked exclusively with highly sensitive people for many years. Priyal Shah co hosts the day and prepares the home cooked vegetarian lunch and refreshments. \nDate and time\nSaturday 20th June 2026\n10.30am to 5.00pm \nLocation\nNear Marlow\, SL7 2HU\, in the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty\, UK. We will be in our retreat cabin overlooking the wildlife pond. \nTickets\n£136 includes the workshop and all food\, homecooked lunch and drinks. It also includes the Eventbrite fees. Payment plans available. Please ask. \nAccommodation\nFor the nearest Airbnbs\, use the postcode SL7 2HU. There is hotel accommodation in Marlow\, around 3 miles away\, a campsite less than 1 mile away\, and a pub with rooms around 1.5 miles away in Frieth. \nParking\nIf you are coming by car\, please let Cindy know\, as parking is limited and we will reserve you a place. \nNearest train stations\nMarlow\, High Wycombe\, or Maidenhead. \nTransport to and from train stations\nWe will collect you. \nDisabled access\nUnfortunately\, the location and venue are not suitable for wheelchair users. The ground is uneven and there are steps.

Through imagination\, reverence\, and quiet communion with the living world\, we allow other voices to speak through us — the trees\, the rivers\, the winds\, the creatures with whom we share this home. Grief and gratitude mingle here\, as we give voice to what has been silenced and open our hearts to the wisdom that surrounds us. \nBefore entering the Council\, we’ll spend time in gentle\, creative exploration — letting the natural world inspire images\, textures\, and symbols that arise from our intuition and play. Then\, together\, we’ll cross into sacred space to speak for the Earth and remember our belonging within the great web of life. \nThis ritual was created by Joanna Macy and John Seed. We’ll also weave throughout the three days other practices from The Work That Reconnects transformative lineage — helping us rediscover the strength that comes from connection: to ourselves\, to one another\, and to the living Earth. \nThrough creativity\, imagination\, and ceremony\, we deepen our sense of belonging to Earth and each other. \n~~~ \nNourishment in every sense – wholesome vegetarian and vegan meals\, unhurried time\, solitude as well as connection. \nThis is not about fixing yourself. It’s about remembering.  \n\nRemembering that your sensitivity connects you with life.\nRemembering that you are not alone with your deep feelings.\nRemembering that you carry within you the capacity for strength\, imagination and love. \n\n~~~ \nThe Retreat House\nThe retreat is at St. Katharine’s\, Parmoor\, a welcoming\, long-established sanctuary where people from all walks of life\, from all faiths or none\, can come to enjoy peace and tranquillity. A Certified Transactional Analyst with an MSc in Psychotherapy and an MBA\, she is a speaker and teaches about the HSP trait in counselling and psychotherapy training colleges and universities. She also coordinates the therapeutic team for the Climate Psychology Alliance. \nCindy is a facilitator of The Work That Reconnects\, having trained with root teacher Joanna Macy. Her work is grounded in reverence for and communion with the natural world and a deep understanding of our ecological and relational selves. Cindy also trained as an End of Life Doula and is a trustee of Heal Rewilding. \nMentored for many years by Malidoma Patrice Somé\, the West African teacher\, author\, and elder known for bridging Indigenous wisdom with Western psychology and spirituality\, Cindy weaves ancient animist and ancestral wisdom into modern therapeutic and community practice.Deeply engaged in decolonisation work\, Cindy brings a reflective focus to the role of white people in co-liberation and collective healing. She believes that as the world grows harder\, the antidote lies in one another—reclaiming belonging through true community. \nPriyal Shah’s life has been a journey of turning sensitivity into strength. Raised in the UK within a Jain family guided by ahimsa — non-violence in thought\, word\, and action — he learned early that gentleness could be a radical act. That understanding became the thread through years of seeking: from Hinduism and Buddhism to Tantra and Taoism\, each path revealing new ways to live with awareness and compassion in a turbulent world. \nNow known as an HSP Yogi and Yoga Ācārya (spiritual teacher)\, Priyal’s work bridges ancient wisdom with modern sensitivity research. Trained in Hatha (Sivananda)\, Tantric\, and Kundalini Yoga\, as well as Yoga Nidra and Yoga philosophy\, he has studied with Dr Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Mantak Chia\, and been mentored by elders in yogic and ecological-spiritual lineages who model humility\, justice\, and service. \nThrough his HSP themed workshops Radical Rest and B.A.L.A.N.C.E.\, Priyal helps Highly Sensitive People find steadiness and belonging — restoring harmony in body\, awareness\, lifestyle\, attention\, nervous system\, connection\, and energy. \nAs a facilitator of The Work That Reconnects\, he uses sensitivity as a compass for collective healing. Priyal has co-led Co-Liberation workshops with Molly Young Brown\, co-author of Coming Back to Life: The Updated Guide to The Work That Reconnects\, and Mutima Imani\, addressing race and equality as gateways to empathy and shared liberation. \nRooted in Sangha — community and interdependence — Priyal’s work amplifies the voices of the Global South and Global Majority\, weaving spiritual practice with social awakening. His teaching invites people to slow down\, feel deeply\, and remember: gentleness is not retreat — it’s revolution. \nGUEST FACILITATORS \nBarbara Allen-Williams \nBarbara facilitates the empowerment of individual HSPs as a mentor 1-1\, plus groups and workshops nationally and internationally\, and has co-hosted a number of 4-day HSP Gathering Retreats with Jacquelyn Strickland in Europe and USA. She is a founding member of International Consultants in High Sensitivity. She is the author of The Little Book of HSP Wisdom. \nLorna Bode \nLorna is a ceramic artist and educator. She has discovered clay to be a wonderful medium through which we can express our creativity. Lorna is leading our mask making for The Council of All Beings. \nDr. Andrew May \nAndrew is a researcher in sensory processing sensitivity\, a human geneticist by training with expertise in lab-based\, bioinformatic and psychological research\, particularly in an African context. He is interested in human development and behaviour\, from genetic\, psychological and evolutionary perspectives. \nAndy Shipley \nAndy is a visually impared nature connection guide. He is leading a session on gratitude and nature connection\, with the help of his support dog Dodger . Andy’s work focuses on integrating the practice of inclusion into the blood-stream of our social\, economic and natural ecosystems. \n\n\nDetails and booking here HSP 3 Day Retreat
