It helped me to understand more about the challenges of the world we live in and how to be with this so that I can hold that I can move forwards in a more balanced and aligned way. To hold space and containment for each other.\n\nWe welcome people from all backgrounds and cultures\, and\, we particularly welcome people of colour. \nThis will be a nurturing day and we warmly invite you to participate. Priyal offers a rich and nuanced perspective to the Work That Reconnects\, rooted in life experience as a Person of the Global Majority and his encompassing explorations in a wide variety of philosophical\, psychological\, spiritual\, and activist traditions and disciplines. He brings both passion and clarity to his skilful facilitation.‘ – Molly Brown\, co-author with Joanna Macy of Coming Back to Life: The Updated Guide to the Work That Reconnects. \n‘It has been my pleasure to be working with Priyal as one of the faculty members of the Social Justice Work That Reconnects. He has such a brilliant mind. Priyal instantly showed his deep understanding of what needs to happen in the minds and hearts of people to decolonize ourselves. He’s dynamic and you’ll learn much from him. He is a disrupter of business as usual. The partnership between Cindy and Priyal brings a rich combination of professional and personal tools needed in these times of the Great Turning’ – Mutima Imani\, Elder & Weaver of the Work That Reconnects and Co-Founder of the Spiral Journey \n  \n  \nAbout Priyal \nBorn into a Jain family in the UK\, Priyal immersed himself in the study of diverse Vedic and Eastern philosophies from an early age. He delved into the realm of Taoist Qi Gong as a Health Practitioner\, under the mentorship of Mantak Chia and his Universal Healing Tao System. He is a facilitator of the Work That Reconnects. \nGiven the urgency of the Climate Crisis\, Priyal’s present focus revolves around discovering constructive approaches to decolonise the Climate Justice movement. He is dedicated to amplifying the voices of the Global South and Global Majority\, while nurturing allyship and co-liberation. \n \n  \n  \nAbout Mutima \nMutima is passionate about how all things work together and what humans can learn from the natural world. SUMMARY:Coming Home to Ourselves\, the Land and Our Gifts
DESCRIPTION:Buy Tickets \n \n \n“When awareness is separate and distinct from mental activity\, \nwhen waking\, dream and deep sleep pass like clouds\, \nyet awareness of Self remains\, \nthis is the experience of total relaxation… \nThat is why\, in tantra\, \nyoga nidra is said to be the doorway to Samadhi.” \n– Swami Satyananda \nHow do we build our inner resources to cope with the daily onslaught of social injustice\, nature destruction and climate crises? We are led to believe that we never have enough\, we never do enough and we never are enough. We are all exhausted by our non-stop culture. What if rest was our initiation into a gentler and kinder way of being with ourselves\, with others\, and with all beings. \nYoga Nidra is a restful horizontal effortless practice upon the threshold of sleep\, it is a vital tool and practice for humans right now. There will be no pressure or judgement on you to participate in all practices\, only do what you feel willing to do. \nWhether you’re seeking clarity\, inspiration\, or simply a space to reflect\, this event promises to provide a deeply enriching experience. \nThis work is needed now more than ever. If you’re interested in learning how to facilitate the Work That Reconnects/Active Hope\, attending this day is a great start. \nKeeping the connection – To keep alive the connections\, sense of community\, relationship and learned practices that we create on the day\, we are also offering two follow on Zoom calls on –Sunday 5th November 2023 11.00am – 1.00pm GMT and Sunday 28th November 2023 11.00am – 1.00pm GMT \nFood & Drink – Please bring your own lunch and a little extra to share. Bring a plate or bowl\, cutlery and cup for drinks. We will provide light refreshments\, vegetarian\, a mixture of simple Levantine Food\, bread and dips as a supplement to lunch and tea breaks. This will not be gluten free. Some vegan alternatives will be provided. \nPrice – The suggested standard fee is £120. The minimum suggested fee is £99. Due to space\, numbers are limited to 10 people. \nWe warmly invite you to share this special time together. \nWith Love \nPriyal & Cindy \nAbout Yoga Nidra \n“When awareness is separate and distinct from mental activity\, \nwhen waking\, dream and deep sleep pass like clouds\, \nyet awareness of Self remains\, \nthis is the experience of total relaxation… \nThat is why\, in tantra\, \nyoga nidra is said to be the doorway to Samadhi.” \n– Swami Satyananda \nA recent study showed that while meditation and Yoga Nidra were both effective in reducing anxiety and stress\, Yoga Nidra was more effective in reducing anxiety. The study also suggested that Yoga Nidra can be a useful tool in reducing both cognitive and physiological symptoms of anxiety. \nRead the beautiful piece by Uma Dinsmore-Tuli ‘Decolonising Sleep or the reparative power of rest as a radical act to restore rhythmic cycles’ \nSee the Yoga Nidra Network https://www.yoganidranetwork.org \nAbout the Work That Reconnects – See the website https://workthatreconnects.org \nTestimonials \nWatch the short video from Todd\, a former airline pilot who joined one of our days https://youtube.com/shorts/ouQ84-N2iqs?feature=share \n‘I highly recommend this workshop to everyone seeking to find their path of heart in our troubled world. SUMMARY:Navigating Inner Conflict
DESCRIPTION:Buy Tickets \n \n\nJoin us for an interactive meeting exploring the subject of inner conflict\, where we will explore the following questions… \n\nDo you feel conflict between the life you currently live and values that you hold dear?\nDo you love what you do professionally but feel conflicted by the impact of your organisation/industry\, for example socially or environmentally?\n\nInner conflict is very real and something to which both of the facilitators can strongly relate\, having experienced it themselves in former professional roles. \nThey know what the discomfort of inner conflict feels like and how it affected their wellbeing and mental health. They also know that feeling conflicted can act as a barrier when it comes to acting constructively and in alignment with ones own values and how feeling hypocritical can prevent us from taking action and/or contributing to positive change. \nInner conflict can feel immobilising and it can be incredibly challenging to move forwards if it seems as though you are alone with this feeling. \nUnlocking inner conflict is something we are are passionate to explore and support you with\, based upon our own experiences and drawing from our collective expertise in psychotherapy\, human factors training and facilitation. \nWe will explore different types of cognitive dissonance and how to best navigate through them. \nInner conflict is affecting mental health and can be a huge barrier to living in accordance with ethical values in a way that is so desperately needed at this time in history. It doesn’t need to be this way – please join us for this session and lead the change. \nPayment: \nThe suggested fee is £15 and I want these meetings to be available to all so please enter whatever ticket price you can afford.  Tickets via Eventbrite link. \nAbout us: \nDan Tipney is an HSP and a former airline pilot who has experienced significant inner conflict as an environmentalist who felt deeply uncomfortable with the impact of his profession on the natural world. As the third generation of pilots within his family and having wanted to fly since a young age\, Dan struggled with a battle between his love for flying and his own values around equality and fairness that were being challenged due to the consequences of an industry to which he had built a life-long connection. \nPart of Dan’s work within airlines involved delivering training on the subject of Human Factors\, an understanding of which helped him to process the cognitive and emotional elements of the conflict he experienced. He now delivers workshops and facilitates discussions on a range of issues\, including decision making\, team dynamics and organisational culture within healthcare and veterinary teams as well as supporting people from all walks of life to explore the subject of inner conflict. \nAbove all else\, Dan’s passion is to help people to recognise and fully understand what they truly love and compassionately help them to join the dots between aspects of their life so that they feel able to live in alignment with their values. \nCindy Gale is a psychotherapist specialising in supporting HSPs to live their best lives as well as supporting people experiencing climate trauma. She has had many previous careers including engineer\, research scientist\, manager of a rap group\, management consultant\, global sales and marketing VP.  She experienced inner conflict many times. \nBuy Tickets

SUMMARY:Becoming Kin - Exploring Interconnectedness in a Fragmented World
DESCRIPTION:Our industrial growth society fosters disconnection as fuel to keep itself going. Join us in guided practices to reclaim true connection. \n\n\nGuided by Joanna Macy’s renowned “Work That Reconnects” framework\, this 5 hour workshop supports us to uncover our gifts at this time and explore how we can take action for ourselves\, for other humans and for the more-than-human world. \nThis will be a kind and supportive space and we warmly invite you to participate. There will be no pressure on you to participate\, only do what you feel comfortable with. \nWe look through the lens of the intersections of speciesism\, anti-racism\, decolonisation\, and environmental racism. Through experiential practices and engaging discussions\, we explore the four stages of The Spiral\, deepening our understanding of collective traumas\, and discovering paths of action and solidarity. \nIn a process known as adversity activated development\, our very act of facing the mess we’re in can help us discover and more enliven our sense of what our lives are about\, what we’re here to do and what we are truly capable of. It will also help you access unexpected resilience and creative power. \nKey Workshop Highlights: \n\n\n\nNavigate the four stages of the Work That Reconnects Spiral\nEngage in experiential practices and discussions\nUnderstand why intersectionality is important at this time and is key to our collective kinship\nExplore speciesism\, anti-racism\, decolonisation\, and environmental racism\nFoster understanding\, healing\, and solidarity\nDevelop personal action plans for change\nBuild a community of like-minded people\n\n\n\nWe want this workshop to be as inclusive as possible so if you need a lower ticket fee\, please contact us. \nFood & Drink – Please bring snacks to share and a water bottle to refill. There is no cafe on site however teas and coffees are available to purchase from the venue as part of our venue hire. \nFrom a previous participant: \n“The workshop felt rich and nourishing but also clear and focused. It helped me to understand more about the challenges of the world we live in and how to be with this so that I can hold that I can move forwards in a more balanced and aligned way. Many aspects of the workshop were deeply moving as we developed connections and awareness as a group. Thank you Cindy and Priyal for sharing this important and crucial work.” – BW \nJoin us for this powerful workshop to foster interconnectedness and take steps toward a more just and inclusive world. We’d love you to join us. \nPriyal & Cindy \n\nAbout Priyal: \nHaving been born into a Jain family in the UK\, I have been immersed in the study of diverse Vedic and Eastern philosophies from an early age. SUMMARY:How to Build Inner Resilience for the Climate\, Nature & Social Crises of our Times
DESCRIPTION:What tools do we need to not only survive but thrive at this time? How do you find your best responses and get unstuck from freeze\, overwhelm or panic? \nThis one-day taster session will introduce the practices of Joanna Macy’s ‘Work That Reconnects’ that have supported activists from burnout for over 50 years and is now growing as a mainstream practice to support anyone concerned by the climate and nature crisis. \n  \nWhy do we need to speak the unspeakable?\n  \nThe climate and nature crisis we are currently in is considered too uncomfortable to talk about. It remains an unspoken presence in the back of our minds. We often hear comments such as don’t go there\, it’s too depressing and don’t dwell on the negative. The problem with this approach is that it closes down our conversations\, our thinking\, and drives our emotional responses underground to leak out when we least expect – and the greatest danger of all is the deadening of our response. \nIn a process known as adversity activated development\, our very act of facing the mess we’re in can help us discover and more enliven our sense of what our lives are about\, what we’re here to do and what we are truly capable of. It will also help you access unexpected resilience and creative power. \nThrough sharing practices and tools to help embrace uncertainty and build inner resilience\, you will start to find your unique gifts to bring forward at this time. \nThis will be a safe and nurturing space and we warmly invite you to participate. There will be no pressure on you to participate\, only do what you feel comfortable with. \n  \nThis event is free and generously provided by the University of Winchester Chaplaincy.  Places are limited so please register to join via Eventbrite. \n\n  \n  \n  \nFacilitated by Cindy Gale & Priyal Shah \nCindy is a psychotherapist and passionate about fostering our capacity to connect with ourselves\, each other and nature. She trained in this work with Joanna Macy in 2009 to become a facilitator of her work. She also provides therapeutic support to people dealing with the climate and nature crisis via the Climate Psychology Alliance. She’s a trustee of Heal Rewilding. \nPriyal was born into Jain family and community in the UK\, since an early age he has studied various Vedic and Eastern teachings such as Buddhism\, Hinduism\, Tantra and Taoism.\nHe trained as a Holistic Bodyworker\, Hatha (Sivananda)\, Tantric and Kundalini Yoga teacher and\, Taoist Qi Gong for Health Practitioner under the tutelage of Mantak Chia and his Universal Healing Tao System. He is facilitator of the Work That Reconnects and passionate about encouraging more people of colour to join him in this work. \n

SUMMARY:Thames Path walk from Marlow
DESCRIPTION:Join hosts Cate & Tom (long time members of Cindy’s HSP group) for this picturesque\, five and a half mile riverside walk from Marlow to Hurley and back. We’ll start by walking out of town along Pound Lane\, before joining the Thames Path and crossing the pretty Temple Footbridge for the first time. We’ll then follow the Thames Path west/upstream\, taking in the lovely views. There is the option of a stop at the Hurley Lock\, where there are picnic tables\, and possibly a tea kiosk if it is open (online details unclear!). Or instead we may wish to continue a little further along the route\, into Hurley village and to the historic Olde Bell pub\, which dates back to 1135\, for a leisurely drink and a break! From there\, we’ll return to cross Temple Footbridge again and then follow the Thames Path for the final stretch back into Marlow. \nWe will meet you round the back of the Resolute Café on Pound Lane\, Marlow – see photo below. This smallish café is on the edge of Higginson Park and is an 8-minute walk from the railway station (straight down Station Road\, then onto Pound Lane). I will be waiting there from 2pm\, in time to set off at 2.10 at the latest. \nThe walk is entirely flat the whole way (aside from the bridge)\, but if you have any health or mobility issues it may help to tell us about beforehand\, by all means do so. Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate to the weather and bring something to drink on the way. \nNB: the event duration is an estimate only. \nNewcomers are very welcome; do make contact before the walk if you have any questions or would just like to introduce yourself. We hope this will be a great opportunity to meet other HSPs (though\, as with all our events\, there is never any pressure to do small talk!). \nHow to find us\nWe will meet you on Pound Lane\, round the back of the Resolute Café\, in Marlow – see photo/map. Marlow is about a 40 min drive from London. On a Sunday\, trains from London to Marlow take just over an hour\, changing trains at Maidenhead. The last one before the walk start time gets in at 13.52. \nPlease RSVP – don’t just turn up –  you’ll need to join Meetup for free and then RSVP to this event

SUMMARY:HSP Community Connect
DESCRIPTION:New accessible fee structure\, read below \nCome and explore\, share or listen with other HSPs in a safe space where your normal character trait is understood and validated. Meet old friends and welcome new ones. \nElaine Aron talks of 5 things that every HSP needs to thrive. We’ll explore some of these during our time together. They are: \n\nTo know your trait is real\nTo reframe your past in light of it\nTo heal from past traumas\nTo design a life that is compatible with it\nTo meet other HSPs\n\nDetails of the meeting:\nFacilitated gently by Cindy so that you can relax as much as possible and enjoy the time together with other HSPs. There is no pressure for you to speak\, you are welcome to just sit and listen. This is an opportunity to share ideas and tips on living life to the full as an HSP\, and to ask any questions. It is held in a supportive and safe way. If you want to leave earlier that’s OK\, just leave whenever you need to. We will start with a short guided meditation to bring us together. \nMaximum group size will be 12. \nTechie stuff:\nThe call will take place on Zoom\, you will get the link after you have bought a ticket. On entry you’ll be muted automatically so we better hear one another. I’ll offer the structure of the call at the start. Please enter the Zoom call a few minutes before 12.00pm. You’ll be in the waiting room and I’ll let people in individually. This takes about 3 minutes. \nSometimes the Zoom link here doesn’t work. If this happens try either copying and pasting this link into your browser\, or click the link in the email reminder rather than the link here. It’s a Meetup glitch! \nPlease make sure your video and sound works. We need to see you. \nPayment:\nThe suggested fee is £12 and I want these meetings to be available to all so if you need to pay less\, please email me and I will send you my Paypal link where you can enter whatever you can afford. \nAbout Cindy: \nI’m a psychotherapist. I have been working with HSPs for 8 years supporting them to flourish\, understand and harmonise their relationship with themselves and others.
