SUMMARY:How to Build Inner Resilience for the Climate\, Nature & Social Crises
DESCRIPTION:What tools do we need to not only survive but thrive at this time? How do you find your best responses and get unstuck from freeze\, overwhelm or panic? \nThis two hour taster session will introduce the practices of Joanna Macy’s ‘Work That Reconnects’ that have supported activists from burnout for over 50 years and is now growing as a mainstream practice to support anyone concerned by the climate and nature crisis. \nWhy do we need to speak the unspeakable?\nThe climate and nature crisis we are currently in is considered too uncomfortable to talk about. It remains an unspoken presence in the back of our minds. We often hear comments such as don’t go there\, it’s too depressing and don’t dwell on the negative. The problem with this approach is that it closes down our conversations\, our thinking\, and drives our emotional responses underground to leak out when we least expect – and the greatest danger of all is the deadening of our response. \nIn a process known as adversity activated development\, our very act of facing the mess we’re in can help us discover and more enliven our sense of what our lives are about\, what we’re here to do and what we are truly capable of. It will also help you access unexpected resilience and creative power. \nThrough sharing practices and tools to help embrace uncertainty and build inner resilience\, you will start to find your unique gifts to bring forward at this time. \nThis will be a safe and nurturing space and we warmly invite you to participate. There will be no pressure on you to participate\, only do what you feel comfortable with. \nWe need more facilitators of this work so if you’re interested in learning to facilitate this work\, attending this session is a great start. This work is needed now more than ever. \n“The workshop felt rich and nourishing but also clear and focused. It helped me to understand more about the challenges of the world we live in and how to be with this so that I can hold that I can move forwards in a more balanced and aligned way. Many aspects of the workshop were deeply moving as we developed connections and awareness as a group. Thank you Cindy and Priyal for sharing this important and crucial work.” \n– Previous 1 day workshop participant\, BW \nWe warmly invite you to share this special time together.\nCindy & Priyal \nLocation: \nFinchley Baptist Church Hall (AKA Church End Baptist Church)\, East End Road on the cornet of Stanhope Avenue\, London\, N£ 3QL \nFinchley Central tub 8 min walk\, Free parking on site.
